A family favorite criss-crossed bread roll with creamy, tasty chicken filling and topped with sesame seeds. A complete meal !
INGREDIENTS
Dough :
2 cups Maida or Flour
1 & ½ tsp instant yeast
1 & ½ tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
¼ cup milk , room temperature
5-6 tbs olive oil
5-6 tbs or as required warm water
Chicken filling :
250 gm boneless chicken
1/2 1 tsps Turmeric powder
1/2 tsps Pepper powder
1/2 tsps Soya sauce
Salt
2 Onion chopped
2 tsps Ginger garlic paste
1 tsp Red chilli powder
1 tsp Coriander powder
1 1/2 tsps Garam masala
Coriander leaves
For Assembling:
1 egg
Sesame seeds as required
INSTRUCTIONS
In bowl, add all-purpose flour,instant yeast,sugar and salt and mix well.
Next add milk and gradually add oil and mix it with the help of hands. Add warm water , as required, mix and knead well until all ingredients are combined. Now take the dough,punch and knead it again and grease the dough with oil. Cover and leave the dough for 1 ½ hour in a warm place.
Next to prepare the chicken filling. marinate the chicken with turmeric powder ,pepper powder, soya sauce and salt and pressure cook it. You can also bake it as required. Then shred the chicken pieces
In a pan add butter / oil, chopped onions and saute until it is soft not browned then add ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell is gone then add all the powders , shredded chicken ,then finally add coriander leaves, add salt according to taste. Set is aside.
Take the bread dough, roll out into a rectangular shape with the help of rolling pin.
Place the chicken filling in the center of the dough. Next is to make slits/cuts with the help of knife on both of the longer sides. Start bringing the top most slit ends across from each other alternately. Keep going, remember to alternate,left to right and right to left.
Preheat oven at 180 degrees C. Put dough in a baking tray, apply egg-wash,sprinkle sesame seeds then bake for about 25 minutes. Serve hot.
