Delicious, crispy cracker sticks twisted with cheese and baked to perfection! Kids would love these.
INGREDIENTS
225 g shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup flour / maida
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 Tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
2 Tablespoons ice cold water
INSTRUCTIONS
Take a medium bowl and using a hand mixer or standing mixer, combine cheese, flour, and salt. Once combined, mix in the butter and add the ice water one tablespoon at a time.
The dough should hold together but crumble apart if you break it up in your hand. If it seems too dry, add a little more ice water.
Separate dough into two halves and pack together into discs. Wrap in parchment paper and chill in the refrigerator for atleast 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 180°C. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Place dough on a lightly floured work surface and roll out into a 9-inch square. Cut rectangles crosswise, using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, into 3/4-inch-wide x 12-inch-long strips. Twist ends of each strip in opposite directions to make a spiral.
Place twists on a baking sheet.
Bake until golden brown around the edges, about 20 minutes if you want is crunchier ( or you can take it out at 16 minutes if you want it soft).
Remove from the oven and cool completely on the baking sheet before serving.
