CHEESY GARLIC BREAD

A homemade buttery and cheesy garlic flavoured bread recipe that is really quick to make and great to serve as an appetizer or snack.

INGREDIENTS

2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour/ maida

2 1/4 teaspoon instant yeast

1 1/2 teaspoons sugar

3/4 teaspoon salt

2 Tablespoons olive oil

3/4 cup warm milk

2 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

4 minced garlic cloves

1 teaspoon dried basil

1/2 teaspoon parsley (optional)

1/2 teaspoon red chilli flakes

1/2 teaspoon oregano

Shredded mozzarella cheese

INSTRUCTIONS

Combine 1 cup of flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Add olive oil and warm milk and use a wooden spoon to stir well very well.

Gradually add another 1 cup of flour and add any additional flour as needed (I did not need to use all the remaining 1/3 cup flour), stirring or using a hand held mixer with dough hook until the dough is beginning to pull away from the sides of the bowl.

Lightly dust your hands with flour and form your dough into a round ball and transfer to clean bowl coated with olive oil. Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and place it in a warm place. Allow dough to rise until doubled in size for about 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 220 degree C and prepare a baking tray with parchment paper.

Once the dough has risen, use your hands to gently deflate the dough and transfer to a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough out into a 9×13 inch rectangle.

Combine the melted butter, garlic, and seasoning together in a small bowl.

Spread most of the prepared garlic butter over half of the dough generously and top with mozzarella cheese. Fold the dough and seal the edges.

Brush remaining amount of prepared garlic butter, some more chilli flakes and oregano over the bread and make marks over bread without cutting them fully.

Move this onto the prepared baking tray and bake for 15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.

Slice and serve.
