CHOCOLATE CAKE TRUFFLES

Chocolate Cake Balls are made with crumbled cake and dipped in melted chocolate. A treat that is simple and delicious!

INGREDIENTS

You can use any left over cake or make the cake from scratch -

To make the cake

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup powdered sugar

6 Tablespoons unsweetened natural cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup hot water

360g cream cheese

White chocolate

Dark or milk chocolate

Sprinkles

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease a cake pan or line with parchment paper.

Whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together in a medium bowl. Set aside. Using a handheld or stand mixer fitted with a paddle or whisk attachment, beat the butter and sugar together in a large bowl until creamed. Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat until combined. Scrape down the bottom and sides of the bowl as needed.

Add the dry ingredients and milk to the wet ingredients and whisk on low speed until combined. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 30-36 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan set on a wire rack.

Once cooled, using a food processor, turn the cake into crumbs or by using your hands, crumble the cake. Mix in the cream cheese so it is thoroughly combined.

Roll into equal sized ball using your hands . Place the rolled balls on a wax paper lined baking sheet. Chill the cake balls in the fridge for 2 hours .

Melt white or dark/milk chocolate in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until melted.

Dip one cake ball into the melted chocolate spooning the chocolate up and over the sides to get a good coating. Repeat with all the cake balls.

Decorate by drizzling with alternating chocolate over them and sprinkles. Let it harden at room temperature.

Enjoy!
