HOMEMADE BUTTERSCOTCH SAUCE

A caramel-like toffee sauce that is easy, rich smooth made of brown sugar, butter, and cream. The perfect topping for puddings, cakes, ice creams.



INGREDIENTS


3/4 cup unsalted butter

1 1/2 cups brown sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons fine sea salt

1 cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon vanilla essence


INSTRUCTIONS


In a saucepan, melt the butter. Add the sugar, salt, essence and cream and stir with a rubber spatula until combined. Simmer on low heat.


Without stirring, let the mixture cook for three minutes. Mixture will thicken considerably as it cools.


Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Pour into a glass container,
