A super delicious bread that is warm and airy with buttery layers filled with Nutella and twisted around in a braid.
INGREDIENTS
1 and 1/4 cup maida or all-purpose flour
1/2 tablespoon instant yeast
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup warm water
1 egg
1/4 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature, cut into small cubes
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup Nutella , at room temperature or heated so that it melts
Sugar Syrup:
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup (70 g) granulated sugar
INSTRUCTIONS
In a mixing bowl, take flour, powdered sugar, salt and yeast and mix until combined. Add eggs, warm water and mix using a hand or stand mixer. Once dough comes together, add the butter cubes and mix until incorporated and until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
Place dough in a bowl brushed with oil and cover with plastic wrap. Leave in warm place ( I placed this inside the microwave switched off ) for about 1½ to 2 hours or until doubled in size.
Take the dough out and roll out dough on a lightly floured surface and shape into a rectangle. Using a spatula , spread Nutella spread and using both hands , roll the rectangle like a swiss roll cake.
Grease a loaf pan with parchment paper or butter and set aside.
Using a pizza cutter or knife, cut the roll in half lengthwise in two equals halves. Gently press together one end of each half, then lift the right half over the left half. Repeat the process again creating a braid or plait and ensuring the nutella layer is on the top. Gently squeeze together the other ends so that you are left with two intertwined halves showing the filling on top.

Carefully lift this into a loaf pan and cover the pan with plastic wrap or cloth. Leave to rise for 1 to 1½ hours. Preheat oven to 180C.
Once dough is risen, bake this bake for about 30 to 35 minutes.
Make the sugar syrup make the syrup but boiling sugar and water on stove using a saucepan and set aside to cool.
Once the cake is out of the oven, brush the syrup over them to make them soft. Let this cool completely before serving.
